Lauderdale Beach area (Galt Ocean Mile) and guess who was sent an invite – not only for Hotel Impossible, a new show on the Travel Channel – that highlights hotels that need some help in changing their identity. Then they were nominated for Bar Rescue, which is on major networks around the country and they did a make-over of the Tiki Bar in the Ocean Manor Hotel – Ft. Lauderdale.
Hotel Impossible is due to air on May 7 at 10pm, featuring the Ocean Manor Hotel, revealing the many problems that a hotel owner must face, in day to day operations, just to keep going. After speaking to Mike, the hotel manager, it seems that Hotel Impossible had contacted the Ocean Manor Hotel to see if they would like to be featured in the upcoming series. They came in and renovated several rooms to show what it would be like.
I saw their newly renovation tiki bar/lounge featuring flat screen TV’s, new furniture, a new bar, plus a new logo featuring Bamboo Beach Club & Tiki Bar. It has a great new look to it. Very updated.
They have also added a new bar menu called “Bites” and have some really cool new drinks called “Spirits”. If you haven’t been to the Tiki Bar lately, be sure to stop down and check out all their new changes and looks.

I stopped in to Yumu Wigs which has recently opened on Dixie. I recognized Karl, the owner immediately, from his other store on Oakland Park Blvd. What a great selection of wigs and hairpieces. Just think you come home and have to go to an event that night, and your hair is terrible, haven’t we all been there. To your rescue, put on a wig and no one will know the difference, except how great you look. For those of you who want just a little uplift, try out one of their clip on hairpieces. This is another great look on those days, you need a little hair emergency. Karl can also –style and clean your wig or hairpiece.

Looking for the freshest seafood in town, then stop down to Maine Lobster located on S. Dixie just north of McNab. John, (Yanni) the owner, is the successful person behind New York Steak House and several other very well-known restaurants in the area. Lobsters are his thing and you will find them… in all sizes. If you wish they will steam your lobster for you and you can take it home, make a salad and potato and you have dinner. He has an excellent selection of fresh fish, including scallops, and shrimp. A word to the wise, be sure to read your auto insurance policy each renewal, mine was renewed with incorrect information and I was denied coverage. Allstate is supposed to be such a great company, believe me, I cancelled them, after I found out that my name had been forged.
If your pet has an emergency (life/death) situation, the place NOT to take them, is the Emergency Care facility located on Oakland close to 95, unless you plan on spending over $2,000. These people were so cruel that they said even if my cat died, they didn’t care, they just wanted their money. The worse thing, is that they did not even take the necessary steps to see if he could survive the operation. Seems he wouldn’t have, and they would have been $2,000 richer.
